Quantum Technologies

Declared direction

Research programme · a P9e Microsystems division

There is no useful, commercially deployed quantum computer anywhere in the world today, and honest roadmaps in this field run in decades. We say that plainly because the alternative — implying otherwise — would undermine everything else on this site. What we do hold is a research position, entered from the near end.

PlainlyThis is the group's least mature area and it is a capability bet, not a business. Only the cryptography thread has present-day engineering consequences.

Where it stands

The honest position

01

Post-quantum cryptography — act now

The one thread with a real deadline. Data captured today can be decrypted later, so quantum-safe migration is a present engineering task. Standards exist, and it needs no quantum hardware.

02

Quantum sensing — the credible near term

Quantum inertial sensors and clocks give assured positioning where satellite navigation is denied or jammed. This is where quantum work would meet Vyovrinda first.

03

Quantum computing — the long horizon

Access and algorithms rather than hardware. No qubit technology has won, and the capital risk of building one is not ours to take.

04

How we hold it

A small research position, published internally, reviewed against the same evidence standard as everything else the group builds.

Research partnerships and conversations, yes. A purchase order, not yet — and we would rather say so now.
